A MEASURE OF INTEGRITY IN A MAN

What on Earth would you do if a beautiful lady you have been dating for a long time , you have invested your time in her, you have left all others to focus on her until all the village knows that the two of you are love birds, deliberately becomes pregnant and pretends that 

1.She doesn't know what is going on yet her body shape is changing and the stomach is getting bigger?  

2. She insists that she is still a virgin WHEN common sense, all Biology, all Chemistry and 'Geography' dictates that a woman gets pregnant through only one way-being with a man-?

What would you do if you lived in a society that was so religiously legalistic that if a young lady is found to have had sex yet not married and the LAW explicitly states that; 

if this charge is true, that the girl was not found a virgin, 21 then they shall bring out the girl to the doorway of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death because she has committed an act of folly in Israel by playing the harlot in her father's house; thus you shall purge the evil from among you (Deuteronomy 22:20-21)?

What would you do ? As far as I am concerned I would tell all my friends about this betrayal and post everything on FACEBOOK to shame her and make her pay for it. That is the reality of the present MAN full of ego and pride covered with sin and greed. JOSEPH the Forster father of Jesus is the man in the hypothetical situations I have given above. He was engaged to Mary and looked forward to a beautiful wedding but learnt that the bride was pregnant yet in his heart he knew he had never slept with her. AS A MEASURE OF INTEGRITY AND TRUE LOVE the Bible says this...

19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:19-21

Many a men would not stomach such a betrayal and I confess that I admire Joseph and I pray that the Lord transform me and gives me such a measure of grace to enable me build muscles of integrity to respect and yearn to protect those close to me and not run to shame others.

Why Many Don't Really Know Who Jesus Is?

          Do you know why many people don't really know who Jesus is?I will tell you today. Kings and leaders are always born in palaces in big cities and great Kingdoms and in Noble Royal Families of the world. But this child was born a "bastard" . If you know what the name really means. It means "a person born of unmarried parents; an illegitimate child. or  a vicious, despicable, or thoroughly disliked person:  The Webster's dictionary says that BASTARD means: something that is spurious, irregular, inferior, or of questionable origin.
        Many people have refused to acknowledge Jesus Christ because he was of questionable origin. His foster Father decided to leave him and his mother before he was born because he was not his  father and doubted Mary's faithfulness. HOW CAN A VIRGIN BE WITH BABY? He decided to run away from the engagement to cancel the wedding.
       Another reason many people do not know Jesus Christ is not only because he was born out of wedlock but also out of season. He was born in a very cold season when a census was being taken and his parents did not make plans for "baby shower" How can a baby claiming to be a king be born in a cow shed? How can a son of God be put in a manger? How can such a one who claims to be saviour of the world be born and stay with filthy dirty animals? Now do you see why many people don't know Jesus?
        Lastly, it is not only being born out of Wedlock and out of season that blinds the hearts of men but also the woman who gave birth to Jesus was questionable. who was she? Whose daughter was she? The area where Mary lived was remote and rural.





Her family was poor and although Mathew presents her as  a descendant  of the Royal family of King David, in actual sense she was a nobody. If we compare where Mary lived with our present life, Mary could have lived in the equivalent of Northern Kenya in Turkana County or West Pokot. If you read Isaiah 53 a clear picture is painted of Jesus' background:

Who has believed our report?

And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,

And as a root out of dry ground.

He has no form or comeliness;

And when we see Him,

There is no beauty that we should desire Him.

3 He is despised and rejected by men,

A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.

And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;

He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 

     In conclusion, being born among the commoners, poor people, slam dwellers, out of wedlock, out of season and being laid in a manger on day 1 made Jesus Christ an obscure figure even to his own siblings. Only Mary knew who he was and she sang this beautiful song the Magnificat

The Song of Mary 

And Mary said: 

“My soul magnifies the Lord, 

And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. 

For He who is mighty has done great things for me, 

And holy is His name. Luke 1:46-47, 49 

The Cessation of the Gifts of Tongues, Prophecies and Knowledge.

I would request those who would like to engage with me in this biblical debate to do so by employing both deductive and inductive reason when responding to my argument. I would prefer that before you disagree with me , please give evidence also by negating the scriptures I have put forth.  The bible only says what it says and not what we think it says.

 I have been asked to answer  a question first if tongues and  prophecies failed.

I would like to say that according to 1Corintians 13 8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whetherthere are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.

        Interpreting the verse above, using plenary hermeneutics, the verse says that LOVE IS ETERNAL. God cannot say something is forever when contrary is true. God is love and and God is The Truth. The Conjunction of contrast BUT in the sentence that begins with it.. but whether there are prophecies they will fail points to the fact there are two issues here being contrasted. These are love and prophesies. 

        Prophecies here may mean the oracles or pronouncements themselves or the gifts of prophecy themselves. The later qualifies to be the best rendering that the former because love is not a pronouncement neither is it an oracle.So the direct translation of the the phrase fail is THEY-SHALL-BE-BEING-DOWN-UN-ACTED they-shall-be-being-discarded pointing to the fact that the gift of prophecy shall be progressively discarded. The word shall here is stronger than will  pointing to the fact that it is imperative and future.  

        The Greek word katarghqhsontai translated FAIL in some versions actually means discard or get rid of (someone or something) and the English  Dictionary adds that it means get rid of something as no longer useful or desirable. In our daily lives we discard many things not necessarily because they are Bad, but because they are no longer useful or no longer fit in the present need. The synonyms for this word include: dispose of, throw away/out, get rid of, toss out, dispense with, cast aside/off, throw on the scrapheap; The above rendering should be applied to the following clauses whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. ( εἴτε  γλῶσσαι παύσονται  ; εἴτε γνῶσις καταργηθήσεται) The words Cease and vanish are terminal in essence and they refer to the coming of an end in something. Webster's Dictionary defines these words thus: Cease =to bring an activity or action to an end : discontinue, obsolete : Vanish : to become extinct : die out., To pass out of existence ; to become zero. 

 I personally believe that these three sign gifts are no longer in use today not because they are bad but because they are no longer needed. There are other gifts that have superseded them. A spiritual parallel to this perspective is the Coming of John the Baptist and the Coming of Jesus' ministry, the end of Jesus' earthly ministry and the advent of the Holy Spirit and the preaching of the gospel to the Gentiles. All these events NEVER HAPPENED SIMULTANEOUSLY. John the Baptist had to VANISH for Jesus to take over. Jesus Christ had to die on the Cross for the Holy Spirit, the Mighty Counselor to take control and empower the Church. God is a God of order and not of confusion. A contemporary analogy would be, the use of technology. If anyone wants to use any of these below, he has the liberty to do so but the the newer technology dictates the terms. You may insist on using any of the gadgets below but they are overtaken with time. So the alternative is for you to take the latest that can serve your need.    

  

       The question is WHEN? When shall this gifts tongues, of prophecy  and knowledge be discarded? Simple English Grammar tells us that the word will or shall used in a sentence points to the future. But when is this Future? The Bible is a good teacher. The Apostle Paul write in the 1Cor. 13 that

For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

  The WE in the verses above refers to Paul and his contemporaries.The above analogy informs us that during the time of Paul and the other Apostles, they knew in part-that is to say the tongues they used then , the prophecy they had then and the knowledge they had at that time in terms of the sign gifts, were all IMPERFECT. Verse 10 points to that which is perfect.  When that which is perfect has come, then that which is imperfect will disappear. So what is this PERFECT. Some theologians say that the perfect refers to the second coming of Christ but when Christ comes we do not need FAITH and HOPE. The Greek New Testament ICorinthians 13:10 reads as follows=  ὅταν δὲ ἔλθῃ τὸ τέλειον τὸ ἐκ μέρους καταργηθήσεται ( hotan de elthe to teleion to ek merous katargesetai ) Which is translated as But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.The best interpretation of these verse is to take the neuter gender that which which correctly refers to a thing, an understanding or a revelation rather than a the person of Jesus Christ. I believe what the Apostle Paul was referring to here in these verses was the PERFECT WORD OF GOD we call THE HOLY BIBLE. In this library of 66 books we have all the PERFECT TONGUES in the World, better and varied than the ones spoken at Pentecost. In the Bible we have all the PERFECT PROPHECIES fulfilled and unfilled. In the Bible we have all the PERFECT KNOWLEDGE. Therefore we do not need the three sign Gifts of tongues, prophecies and knowledge because they are obsolete. They vanished. They ceased they passed away. What people are doing now is just a sham. Remember I said that AT PRESENT WE HAVE NO SINGLE PROPHET OR APOSTLE IN THE ORDER OF THE BIBLICAL PROPHETS AND THE NEW TESTAMENT APOSTLES.  I will address Ephesians 4 in the next blog. Otherwise I would like to end with the apostle Paul who summed up everything saying   

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

God’s Supreme Revelation

When I read the opening verses of the book of Hebrews I SEE WHAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE DON'T SEE but I believe one day the Lord who dwells in us and teaches us through His Holy Holy Spirit who lives in us and among us will open our eyes to see as clearly as He intended us us to see and know. The Book of Hebrews opens with the following

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; Hebrews 1:1-2.

        The portion of scripture above compels me to say that I do not believe that the so called prophets, apostles, miracle workers and the modern day televangelist are speaking from God. At present, the Church does not have a single prophet or an apostle in the order of the prophets and apostles of the Bible. Another thing I see in the scriptures above is that God no longer speaks to us through the same ways He spoke to the people of the old and that Jesus Christ is the all in all of creation and through whom we move and live.

After the foundations of the church, the living organism made of all those called out also known as the ecclesia or ekklesia (Greek: ἐκκλησία) or "those who belong" was laid by Jesus Himself who is the Conner stone and His Apostles, there was no need to have prophets again. The work of all the prophets was done through a chain of many prophets who were sent to various peoples in different times. This is what is also called dispensational hermeneutics. The last prophet after Malachi was Jogn the Baptist who was the herald of Jesus Christ and even Jesus Christ said I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater  Luke 7:2. After John the Baptist ushered in the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29) The culmination of all prophecy and prophets was in Jesus Christ Himself. Why do we need "prophets" now when we have the perfect prophet in Jesus Christ? That is exactly what Hebrews 1: 1-2 is all about. There are no more prophets in the order of the prophets and apostles of the Bible.
               The reason I write this with much conviction is the sad stories we hear all the time. Watch the Videos below where Satan has deceived the people to believe that we still have prophets, apostles and miracle workers. In the first video for those who do not understand Kiswahili, the lady in the video was made to believe that a child under her care was demon possessed and needed prayers. The "prophet" took soil from the grave of the child's father and mixed it with water and forced the child to drink the mixture. He asked the woman to give him money for this and the bot died. The truth is all those people who claim to be prophets, miracle workers and Apostles are false teachers and they know that very well. Like their father satan, they have to live in a perpetual lie and speak their native tongue which is lying. Jesus told the ancestors of these false teachers, "You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his ownresources, for he is a liar and the father of it.John 8:44.

         God's Supreme revelation is in Jesus Christ alone who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, Hebrews 1:3 God no longer speaks to us through the same ways He spoke to the people of the old. This we can demonstrate by going to the days of Adam and Eve. In the initial part after the creation week, God used to appear directly to Adam and spoke to him face to face. Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Genesis 2:15-17. Later, after the Fall, things changed and Man could no longer see and talk to God because he had sinned Romans 3: 23   for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. In the days of Noah God spoke from heaven to Noah and through Noah Genesis 9: 1 So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.[a] 2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, on all that move on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand. 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs. 4 But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.5 Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning; from the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man’s brother I will require the life of man.. In the days of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, God talked to these men from Heaven through dreams and sometimes directly Genesis 12:1-3
Now the Lord had said to Abram:

“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
2 I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;

And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” 
           The incidences described above are clear evidence that God spoke to His people at different times and in different ways but TODAY HE HAS SPOKEN TO US THROUGH JESUS CHRIST ALONE.
          There are no prophets, no apostles and and no miracle workers now because All these offices are in Christ Jesus. If we have all these in Jesus, why should we have people fixing theses tiles on themselves?  Who is "prophet" TB Joshua of Nigeria working for? Who does the so called prophet Owuor of Kenya serve if the Bible is clear that TODAY God has spoken to us through Jesus Christ?
Jesus Christ is the all in all of creation and through whom we move and live. God’s Supreme Revelation is not in a book, not in particular individuals or churches, or religions but in Jesus Christ who the Bible speaks of in these words in Hebrews 1: 1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself[a] purged our[b] sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. We conclude with the words of  Joshua 24:15

15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
