Shukrani.

The Distinction between Paul's and Peter's ministries seen clearly when the word of truth is rightly divided!

  • I have read your thread and all the scriptures you have listed claiming that Paul and Peter preached the same thing and I will find time to respond to it later. What I would like to say now is about what you are saying on" Rightly dividing the word of truth" 2 Tim 2:15.

The reason I believe that the King James rendering of this verse is the closest of all is because of what the Greek word ὀρθοτομέω (Orthotomeo) MEANS, most translators translate it to mean" cutting straight" oσπουδάζω σεαυτοῦ δόκιμος παρίστημι ὁ θεός ἐργάτης ἀνεπαίσχυντος ὀρθοτομέω ὁ λόγος ὁ ἀλήθεια None ofthe translation correctly records the word cutting, the N IV takes the word to mean correctly hundling. When you think about what this correctly means in common English, it does not make the intended meaning of the Greek because cutting is more related to dividing than to hundling. When one reads the Bible in this way, the seemingly contradictions seen in the bible dissappear! For example, I never understood why the bible says in Mathew 24:24 that For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect--if that were possible. and again elsewhere it says No Chritian will be in the tribulation because We shall be raptured in a twinkling of an eye"

After rightly dividing the word of truth, I came to understand Thessalonians 4:16-18...
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

That the tribulation is for the house of Jacob Jeremiah 30:7-11, "Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him ... Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid. For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished."

This is what we understand as rightly dividing the word of Truth. There is what belongs to house of Jacob and there is what belongs to the Gentile Church. The aspostle Paul goes on to use many analogies like the wild grape vine being crafted to the grape and there is a clear distinction between the ministry of Paul and that Of the twelve. What Peter Preached targeted the Jewish church and that is why Paul even accused him of eating with the gentiles but when the Jewish people were near he pretended not to share with them.
Galatians 2:12 captures this scenario clearly thus "Before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group.

Acts 11:2 So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers criticized himActs 11:3 and said, "You went into the house of uncircumcised men and ate with them

"Acts 12:17 Peter motioned with his hand for them to be quiet and described how the Lord had brought him out of prison. "Tell James and the brothers about this," he said, and then he left for another place.
Galatians 2:9 James, Peter and John, those reputed to be pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the Jews.

Galatians 2:14 When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, "You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?

All the verses above point to the difference between Pauls Ministry and that of Peter and the other Apostals. This is rightly dividing the word of Truth. There are many other scripturs that show the difference in ministries of the two apostals. It should be known that both are equal beofre the Lord and what they wrote is equally inspired. Although Paul liked to refer to himself as the least of all the apostals.
