Honesty Demonstrates Spirit Filled Living.

Honesty is the only virtue that demonstrates and ensures that a person is living a spirit filled life. It is the cement that holds relationships and marriages together. Without honesty, there is no love. Honesty is founded and grows from Agape love that comes from God JOHN 15.9-11 says 'As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you: continue ye In My love. If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love; even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love.
I am talking about Honesty because it is an area that I struggle with. Many times I fail the test of honesty and this has made me lose ground in my spiritual development because the sin of dishonesty never goes away unless we truly face it like David in Psalm 51 and confess and repent. The path to heaven is narrow and to walk on it requires all our focus; mind soul and spirit be fixed on Jesus Christ .        This character was in the Apostle Paul who Knew the Lord personally and nothing could sway him. He encourages Timothy in this words: 13 Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 14 That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.(2TIM.1:13,14). Paul's commitment and focus on Jesus Christ was so radical that many people found him difficult to" work" with.Even at present many people don't like Paul's writings. In Fact our Muslim brothers and sisters say that Paul is the single person who "destroyed" the otherwise good religion that Jesus preached.
Some theologians secretly deny Paul's gospel of Jesus Christ especially death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and salvation by grace alone. This did not start today because even in the first Church, some believers deserted Paul because of this uncompromising spirit that was grounded on the Honesty that was in Paul. This honesty was as a result of Paul's personal encounter with Jesus Christ. When encouraging Timothy, Paul said; 15 This you know, that all those in Asia have turned away from me, among whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes. This issue of being deserted by friends came to me recently when I was home in the months of April-August 2014. In our Grace Bible Church in Eldoret, many of the most committed members had left the church and joined other churches because of reasons they told me were personal.
Honesty is a precursor to commitment and commitment to a course never dies. The Apostle Paul did not change the message of the cross, did not make it colourful to please the eyes of those he was preaching to, he did not water down the central message of the cross of Christ, neither did he compromise the faith because he was threatened with death. He was attacked many times but he remained steadfast. He was jailed many times but even from those jails he wrote letters and preached the gospel of Jesus Christ.
You and I when the church does not provide a parking for our cars, we change the church. If the praise and worship is not colourful, we go to where music is profound and done professionally. When the children ministry is not interesting to our children, we change and go to where these services are provided. When there is no Choir or band and youth ministry, we go to where these are found. When there are no youth rallies, Keshas ( overnight prayers) and pronounced crusades, we run to the New prophet in town.
However, you and I should remember that God does not depend on us whether we are honest, committed or not. He still has many who will minister and serve Him. He is a Creator God. You and I are just a breath behind death, today we are here tomorrow we are no more. God had those who stood with the Apostle Paul after he had been deserted. This is what Paul said: 16 The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain; 17 but when he arrived in Rome, he sought me out very zealously and found me. 18 The Lord grant to him that he may find mercy from the Lord in that Day—and you know very well how many ways he ministered to me[c] at Ephesus.
Lastly, going back to Honesty and commitment, Paul the apostle urged Timothy in the following words 8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, 10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11 to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.[b] 12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bRV3J4n8cc

Honesty and Commitment.

Being honest with yourself means that you manifest total commitment to any course you have taken no matter what. But the Commitment naturally should flow from an inner fountain of energy otherwise called FAITH. Faith comes as a result of KNOWING someone or something without any shadow of doubt.
Are you a Christian? The answer you give to this question will emanet from two sources; 1. The mouth 2 The heart. The answer that comes from the mouth is just like lipstick or perfume, or even a mask that covers the real. The answer that comes from the heart is the real you and the real you is established on truth. Truth builds confidence and the knowledge of truth is a lifetime endeavour that comes from interaction with the source of that knowledge. Jesus Christ said He is the way the Truth and the Life therefore for us to know Him better we MUST walk with Him daily. Walking with Jesus daily means reading the bible, talking to him, listening to Him as He speaks through the bible and through the Holy Spirit who indwells us. Many people QUIETLY struggle to put their trust in Jesus because they do not know whether it is true that Jesus really died and rose again.
Selwyn Hughes wrote that acceptance of the fact that Christ rose from the dead is a basic precondition for being a Christian. "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe ... that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Rom. 10:9,) If you don't believe and truly believe you are not a Christian. There is no middle ground on this issue. YOU MUST TAKE A STAND and we must stop being like the Kenyan politicians who today are for the government tomorrow are in the opposition and vice versa.
If you believe please let us pray Father, if I am not sure of the resurrection how can I be sure I am saved? However, I am sure, for I live in a resurrected Christ. Since He was resurrected, I know I shall be too. Death has been conquered. Hallelujah !https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkMapZB8qMk

One of my favorite hymns. This song is from the album, "Together for the Gospel Live" from Sovereign Grace Music.

There is a reason for every season

Looking back at a story I shared here about my Japanese Friend who asked me to eat the shrimp because the shrimp died so that we could eat them and live, I just marvel at how God teaches us very deep truth about His nature and purpose. God does not just do things. There is a reason for every season and if we open our hearts and inner ears He is ready to speak to us His children in a small still voice.
God spoke to the Apostle Paul in a way that Paul wouldn't be moved by anything. The famous hymn that has the words- I need no other argument I need no other plea, it is enough that Jesus died and that He died for me- speak volumes about the Conviction and and unwavering FAITH and TRUST that Paul had in Jesus. Paul in a letter to the Corinthians said Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you RECEIVED and in which you STAND, 2 by which also you ARE SAVED, if you HOLD FAST that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve.
Selwyn Hughes asked "What other world religion has at its heart such a glorious fact as our Lord's resurrection? Christianity is the only faith whose Founder died upon a cross, was buried for three days, and then returned from the dead.
If you believe with me in this central pillar of our faith, pray with me. O Loving heavenly Father, help me understand even more deeply the truth of Your Son's resurrection, for such an important truth cannot be left to lie in the realm of uncertainty. Take my hand and lead me more deeply into this truth. In Jesus' Name. Amen.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQf0GUpGU50

The Message of the Cross

My prayer to God is that He paints the picture of the truth of the cross in my mind that I will always meditate on it day and night. One day my friend Hiroshi and I went to a Thai restaurant and we ordered Tom Yam koong( a spicy Thai shrimp carry)
I was just getting acquainted to Thai food so eating shrimp was a challenge. I left some on the plate but Hiroshi urged me to eat them all.. I declined and he started eating them himself. I wondered why he was eating them now yet he had enough. He looked at me and said, we have to eat them all because the shrimp died to be eaten and if we throw them away, their death would have been in vain. I leanrt a great lesson here. Out of the death of plants, chicken and other animals, we get life. Without us eating these other things that die, we cannot live.
According to Hughes Jesus Christ underwent the ordeal with brain unclouded and with nerves unsoothed. The crowd who watched Him cried: "He saved others, but he can't save himself!" But strange as it seems, that mocking phrase became the central truth of the gospel. He was saving others and therefore He could not save Himself. That is one of the greatest truths of life -if we are to save others we cannot save ourselves. "It is a great mystery, yet an everlasting fact, that goodness in all moral natures has the doom of bleeding upon it, allowing it to conquer only as it bleeds. All goodness conquers by a cross."
This law of saving by self-giving runs through life. Those who save themselves cannot save others, and those who save others cannot save themselves - cannot save themselves trouble, sorrow, hurts, disappointments, pain, and sometimes even death. This is a law of the universe, and it applies to God as much as it does to us.
Prayer: O God, I have seen this law at work in human nature but I never thought it was part of the divine nature. But where could it have come from other than You? The highest in mankind is the deepest in You. I am staggered by it, but I know it to be true. Thank You, dear Father. Amen.
